The splendid historical
remains of Palmyra, often described as the "bride of the desert",
tell of the valiant reign of Queen Zenobia. Exceptionally intelligent
and beautiful, she ruled Palmyra in a way that astonished both East
and West. She was defeated by Rome but not before she conquered Syria
