Muscat, Oman
is known for its twin forts - Mirani and Jelali. They were built
during the Portuguese invasion in the 1500's, and are still grand.
During various periods, these forts were used for different purposes,
ranging from defense to watchtowers, and even prisons. Today, they
are museums featuring old weaponry and scrolls. ©
